Tarik Smith is water management specialist with over 25 years of experience in the field.

Before founding Koom Consulting in 2011, he had worked for several years as an environmental consultant and field technician in Bermuda, followed by over seven years in Barcelona in the chemical and food processing industries as a researcher, technical consultant, wastewater treatment processes engineer and in the “third sector” as water management consultant and project manager.

In the world of academia, Tarik has a BSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of Western Ontario, Canada and MSc in Environmental Consulting and Water Engineering from the University of Las Palmas, Canary Islands. He also currently serves in the capacities of research fellow, lecturer, technical consultant and /or academic thesis supervisor for institutions including UNESCOSOST-Barcelona Tech, The Bermuda College, the University of Lagos, Nigeria and the Mariana University of Pasto, Colombia.

Coming from a wealth of multicultural, multidisciplinary, and international experience, not to mention the fact that he is an avid jazz fan and amateur musician, Tarik is a firm believer in developing holistic and multifaceted approaches to solving the often very complex challenges surrounding the management of the worlds water resources.
